### Officially Translated Light Novels v23.01 v23.0: https://nyaa.si/view/1990078 Sorry for the long delay, everyone! I've been very busy with work, and I sort of forgot to update this collection. It's finally complete now. As always, I had to pick the slack for some of the less popular series and purchase them myself. #### PDFs In the v23.0 release, we had a poll to decide whether or not to keep the PDF files in the torrents. The majority agreed that they were not needed, and anyone who *really* needs a PDF version can convert it themselves. There are many tools online for this. The publishers don't provide PDF versions, so they're all manually converted anyway. #### The Future I have a few helping hands now, so releases should be more consistent going forward. With the next full release, we've decided to make a few changes and overhaul most of everything, specifically to the naming conventions. I've spent the past week writing a suite of tools to better standardize the collection, archiving, and naming process for each series and its individual volumes. As a result, the current release should be much cleaner. Moving forward, the next release will have those tools applied to every file in the entire collection, so expect it to be very different and likely incompatible with your older copies. I will make the tools open-source so that everyone can contribute their ideas, and make the standard better. The changes currently planned are: 1. **Full series name; no truncations** At the moment, light novels with very long names are often truncated. For example, `Isekai Tensei - Recruited To Another World` becomes `Isekai Tensei`. This is practical for some cases (e.g. `Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon`), but not very helpful in cases like `Isekai Tensei` -- which means "Otherworld Reincarnation", which does very little to distinguish it from literally every other isekai. 2. **Unique ID for each series** We can generate a CRC32 hash for every series name, and put that in the folder name. This helps us keep better track of the collection internally. We're thinking of doing this by normalizing a series name by lowercasing and stripping it of spaces and punctuations, e.g. `Sword Art Online` -> `swordartonline` -> `CRC32('swordartonline')` -> ` 360cc1bf ` -> `Sword Art Online [360cc1bf]` (folder name). I'm not sure if we should put this in the folder name, or individual file names. Taking suggestions. Another thing that needs to be discussed: some series have subtitles for each volume. There's no convention around this case, so some series end up logging the subtitle in the filename, and others don't. We should also decide what to do about this. *** A warm thanks to the many members of the Merchant’s Guild, generously funding and bank-rolling these releases. You’re all truly wonderful. Have a good day.

Thanks a bunch!
Thanks! '1. Full series name; no truncations' I otherwise have no problem with this, but in the past I've had Windows experience hiccups with long file paths, it solved when I truncated main folder to just 'Novels'. I have some fear this might revert the issue right back to the starting point?
Thanks a lot. For the subtitle thing, maybe you can just abbreviate the title ie: "Sword Art Online" to just SAO; and then the subtitle, if it is not one of those ridiculous long ones.
Thank you for your hard work and the release!
Thanks for the update!
Good Work. Missing Volumes available on nyaa: The Villainess and the Demon Knight - Volume 04 [Seven Seas] An Observation Log of My Wife Who Calls Herself a Villainess v01 [Hanashi Media] Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra - World Conquest Starts with the Civilization of Ruin v07 [Cross Infinite World] Expedition Cooking with the Enoch Royal Knights v07 [Cross Infinite World] How I Became King by Eating Monsters - Volume 03 [Cross Infinite World] I Got Reincarnated as a Cultist Mob in an Eroge Full of Maniacs with Death Wishes v01 [Hanashi Media] I'm Just a Villager, So What v01 [Hanashi Media] So You Want to Live the Slow Life A Guide to Life in the Beastly Wilds v05 [Cross Infinite World] The Abandoned Reincarnation Sage - Building a Mighty Empire with Monsters Within the Monsters' Forest v01 [Hanashi Media] Welcome to Olivia’s Magic Jewelers - Volume 02 [Cross Infinite World] Tsukimichi - Moonlit Fantasy v07 [Hanashi Media] Tsukimichi - Moonlit Fantasy v08 [Hanashi Media] Tsukimichi - Moonlit Fantasy v08.5 [Hanashi Media]
Thanks for the update. And somehow missing Lady Bumpkin and Her Lord Villain - Volume 04 and we skipped to volume 05 from v23.0 update. Also the Trapped in a Dating Sim in this update must be the "Trapped in a Dating Sim - Otome Games Are Tough For Us, Too!" which is the alternate timeline version of it since the original already should have ended .
Thanks for the update! Doing Kami-sama's work!

Thanks for reporting the missing volumes. I'm in the process of integrating a scraper in the tools I use so we can get an accurate and up-to-date list of releases. Should I make a quick release to bundle in the missing ones reported here in the meantime?
Thank you for the update. As for the suggestions: >Full series name; no truncations I still think this needs exceptions. I agree on Isekai Tensei update but I imagine someone may have issues with the full name of "Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon". Maybe the truncated name should have a mark showing it's truncated, like "Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon [TR]", and a text file inside with the full name and maybe a synopsis? >Unique ID for each series I would prefer folder name as it's less invasive and I don't see the point of appending the same CR32 to all the files, but if it makes things easier in the slightest easier to have it in the filenames that should have the absolutely top priority. >some series have subtitles for each volume - some series end up logging the subtitle in the filename, and others don’t I think they should be in the filename, it's part of the name of the book. >likely incompatible with your older copies If that's the case, then I believe the next update should be a full library 24.0, if possible. Once again, thanks for your amazing work.
> Full series name; no truncations I agree with @nicoelson that it need exceptions. > Unique ID for each series If its used don't use CRC32 as it is, is better to encode it in base32 instead of hexadecimal to prevent confusions with the CRC of the file. Example: CRC32 [360CC1BF] in base 32 can be [GYGMDPY=], Also evaluate the possibility of use of xxh32 instead of crc32, I prefer xxh64 but it uses more characters. The use of base32 anyway is better in any case but be it clear what version is selected like base32hex or base32 by RFC 4648, z-base-32, Crockford's Base32 or a custom version. > Should I make a quick release to bundle in the missing ones reported here in the meantime? It can be appreciated but is not needed, also you can take down this torrent and reupload on with the missing files and the filename for “Trapped in a Dating Sim - Otome Games Are Tough For Us, Too!” corrected, gamba have done this before in some rare occasions. And for me the next update y prefer a normal update and leave the mayor update (24.0) for December or January.
@AlpinDale This is a long shot, but can we have the Yuri content separated, similarly to Yaoi?
@Wicher I think that is better to not have any separation but add a tag to the folder name indicating {YAOI} and {YURI}, and possibly also for {SHOUNEN AI] and {SHOUJO AI}, sometimes is difficult to tell if a series is or not is really yuri or yaoi while being soujo/shounen ai, it also happen if it soujo/shounen ai and normal series..
The Goddess Says, .Kill the Tsundere Witch!. Probably needs a folder name change, Windows doesn't like it due to the ending .
Thanks for your hard work! For the naming, wouldn't it be fine to just have it like "Title/V01 - Volume Title.epub" ? Is there anyone who doesn't use folders when organizing stuff?
About things not in e-book format: The collection contains some very old books scanned from paper books. Please be very sure you're not loosing them by assuming everything exists in e-book format. Some publishers like Tokyopop no longer exists and their books may not be licensed for english any more. Thank you for the update.

@valdearg I use Linux and macOS so I never noticed that Windows doesn't support `"` in the filename. I'll see if I can fix this for the next release. Thanks for reporting.
Thanks for the update. Just one issue that I've noticed. There is an issue with epubs that had an advertisement page in the original upload (particularly those tagged [faratnis]). It seems that you've deleted the actual advertisement page from the epubs (usually jnovels.xhtml) as the previous collection maintainer did, thanks for doing this. However there are still leftover links to the advertisement page in the table of contents which haven't been removed. These also need to be cleaned up (the previous maintainer did this as far as I know). Would it be possible to fix this for the next update? Thanks again!
This is why rips from anyone else should always replace Faratnis "reuploads from other rip websites that inject ads", Like Stick, CleanBookGuy (or LuCaZ if they are still around) those are clean (and/or fixed) books but never had injected stuff that had to be removed potentially breaking the epub or creating bloat. Also, premium tags would be a thing for JNC as kobo rips won't have those.
>PDFs Well fuck you then for getting rid of them. Gonna make my life more difficult now to manually convert all the new ones. Again, older devices that people like me still read on (because they have less/no ads or were jail broken to not have ads) don't support ePubs. Big middle finger to use then, I guess. >Full series name; no truncations Terrible, terrible idea. You clearly aren't on Windows or have no idea about how character limits work in file paths. This could break everything for those long ass titles. If you don't truncate them you're to hit that character limit only a few folders deep from C:. Probably can't even get much past C:\ with longer titles. >Unique ID for each series Again, what in the actual fuck are you doing making these file names even longer. Holy hell you and anyone you are working with does not understand what kind of problems this can cause on Windows. I hate Windows for plenty of reasons but it's necessary for plenty of programs and it's still the most popular OS. I can not stress enough that not truncating file names will break things because of limits built into Windows. If you are just renaming or moving files there are ways to do that without requiring a redownload for everyone. Ganba made those batch files that did it all for you. (What I wouldn't give to have him back since you are ruining everything he did that worked so well.)

@Sockz So far, every change I've made has been after asking the users here, either through polls or comments. PDFs aren't the official distribution format, and any conversion I'd make would be identical to what you'd get from CloudConvert. The majority of users agreed to have the PDF bloat removed from the torrents, as they serve no purpose for most people. I have no obligation to more than double the torrent size to cater to your specific device. You can use Calibre to batch-convert all of them at once if needed. Ganba disappeared without leaving behind the tools he was using, so I have to reinvent much of the wheel myself, and that takes time. I'm getting there, but Ganba had decades of a head start. Keep in mind that this is all volunteer work, and I'm taking my own time and money to keep this going. If you're unhappy with how it's managed, you're welcome to contribute or create your own collection. P.S. Regarding Windows path limits, that's primarily a Windows 7/8 issue. Windows 10 users can enable long path support via a registry edit, and Windows 11 handles it natively. For users still on older systems or who encounter compatibility issues, the naming convention is still being finalized. I'll probably end up shortening exceptionally long titles either way, as @nicoelson suggested.
I appreciate you debloating the torrents by removing PDFs. Epub became the de facto standard for ebooks well over 10 years ago.... anyone with a device too old to support epub really shouldn't expect to keep getting support.
@AlpinDale I'm so glad that you took their comment face on and calmly. Please, no matter what anyone say, feel free to do things at your own pace Alpindale, sir. No one is forcing you, even if there is, just ignore them.
Disney Twisted-Wonderland is a manga. This series have been completed in this update if i'm not worng: Babel Hero Syndrome Classroom of the Elite - Year 2 The Mimosa Confessions The Contract Between a Specter and a Servant The Hero-Killing Bride The Villainess Is Dead! Long Live the Empress! Dagashi-ya Yahagi
@PH13 > Classroom of the Elite - Year 2 1 more volume left
@dumbboy58 thanks, in that one was not sure. naming problem with the apostrophe in "Banished from the Hero's Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life - Volume 14 [Yen Press]" amd in "A Late-Start Tamer's Laid-Back Life - Volume 13 [J-Novel Club][Premium]"
I have a suggestion for the filenames. How about putting the publisher in the series folder name instead of the filename? And, keeping the full series name for the folder, while truncating the epub filenames. The individual volume subtitles (not title's subtitle) should only be kept if the title is short or it's a part of the title, but include the volume number in brackets at the end. The example: Book Girl series, Rascal Does Not Dream of series, Marielle Clarac series example "The Engagement of Marielle Clarac (Book I)". This individual volume subtitle should always be AFTER the volume number for ease of sorting. Special symbols that aren't allowed in windows filenames should be outright removed, because "_" is just a waste of character space. Similarly with extra spaces. Subtitle dividers are also unnecessary, they serve visual purpose more than anything else. It doesn't matter if it's written as TITLE -Subtitle-, TITLE -- Subtitle --, TITLE ~Subtitle~, TITLE ~ Subtitle ~, TITLE "Subtitle", TITLE >Subtitle<. On another note, Astrea Record should be renamed to Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Tales of Heroes: Astrea Record, for proper sorting as it's a spin-off.

I'm currently in the middle of restructuring the full collection for 24.0 release. For starters, I'll be using https://ranobedb.org/ as the source of truth, for both the series title and volume title. The RNDB ID will be attached to the folder and filenames, e.g. `The Asterisk War [2473]`. This will make it much easier for me to setup an alert system for keeping up with new releases + catch missing volumes. Should also fully standardize names. RNDB is unfortunately not complete, and so far, I've found over 130 series in this collection missing there. I will try to add them to the RNDB database. But some of the missing ones are Chinese and Korean LNs. I'm thinking of removing those from the collection. Thoughts? I really don't think they belong here. There is also a few folders with only corrupted zip files inside them.
@AlpinDale, you could create a separate torrent for those, or delegate maintaining it to someone else. I agree, it doesn't belong in this collection. That being said, what are your thoughts about separating the Yaoi/Yuri content from the collection? Similarly, how Yaoi is separated right now.

@Wicher I don't mind separating Yuri as well, but I'd need a way to find out which LNs are Yuri. In fact, a few Yaoi have slipped past into the main collection. If someone can compile a list, I'd be grateful.
@AlpinDale Yuri: 1. Did You Think My Yuri Was Just for Show? 2. Yuri Tama – From Third Wheel to Trifecta 3. Adachi and Shimamura 4. Bloom Into You 5. The Executioner and Her Way of Life 6. The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady 7. Qualia the Purple 8. Sexiled – My Sexist Party Leader Kicked Me Out, So I Teamed Up with a Mythical Sorceress! 9. Strawberry Panic! 10. The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess 11. I’m in Love With the Villainess BL: 1. Hirano and Kagiura 2. Sasaki and Miyano 3. The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter 4. Riverbay Road Men’s Dormitory 5. The Contract Between a Specter and a Servant I used the v23.0 release, so it might be missing something if it was added later. I also might have missed some titles.
What happened to the JP LN Collection?
