Orphan presents a new version of Toei's 1962 feature-length cartoon *Arabian Nights: Sindbad no Bouken* (Arabian Nights: Sinbad's Adventures). In this version, Sinbad and his young friend Ali can only dream of going to sea until a shipwrecked old man washes up on shore. Before dying, he tells them of a mysterious island full of five-colored gems. Inspired, the two stow away on a cargo ship and eventually become crew members. After an interlude in a port of call involving the beautiful Princess Samir and the evil Vizier Torfa, Sinbad convinces his captain to go find the island. Samir tags along, and the Torfa pursues them in his own ship. The island is indeed full of treasure, but it is also full of mortal terrors and perils that Sinbad must overcome.
