~~I made this as proof of concept. I used the highest quality video i could find from on Nyaa and that happens to be a mostly dead torrent by [neo1024](https://nyaa.si/view/1117579). I was also hoping to put out a call to see if there exists better more easy to access footage of the series. I just used the audio from [vagawod](https://nyaa.si/view/1618782) but I am not married to it. If I do decide to make this into a bigger project the final result quality would be aiming to match the rest of my releases on my page. I might just buy a foreign country blu-ray and do what I can with that.~~
It has been brought to my attention that the source I used applied fake grain. I am extremely disappointed. I will take this torrent down shortly.

Vap did a terrible job with the BD transfer, heavily denoising and partially banding the image. **I re-added the grain,** which, coupled with downscaling to 720p, makes the image relatively good. The 480p release was encoded without the added grain.
Damn. I should have read the comments! That's insane. I don't see where you got that text but I see the comments corroborate what you're saying.
I have a blu-ray on order from Italy. Any chance that will be any good?

I never came across any information about a better BD release than this one people got in their hands before.
Probably the reason the vagawod DVD remux was made upon request.
(Apparently DVD source was progressive, so not the worst scenario as if it was interlaced.)
I bought the Italian copy because I am in complete denial that a 1080p source doesn’t exist. The box does advertise 1080p. I just don’t know how it can be that there exists 1080p masters of Part 1 and 3 but not 2, which is a very popular series. I know that Lupin is fairly popular in Italy. They even got their own comic book series.
Yes the DVD source is very good for DVD but still locked to 480p.
